Crown Street Mall Upgrade
Wollongong City Council is preparing to undertake a significant upgrade of the Crown Street Mall as part of an integrated public domain strategy to enhance the City Centre and contribute to the realisation of Wollongong as a major regional centre. The key objectives of the upgrade is to ensure that Crown Street Mall fulfils its role as the key public space within the Wollongong CBD with a clear and unique identity providing a positive link between the City Centre and the Blue Mile. The Mall is to be renewed with a simple, uncluttered design that responds to the core functional requirements. The Mall will be an inclusive and accessible public space that has active and legible edges, opportunities for sitting, resting, interaction and enjoyment. GAO has been commissioned to develop the masterplan and prepare construction documentation for the project.
